Alright! So, it’s over. PewDiePie’s fierce battle against T-Series has finally come to an end as the latter has gained a significant lead in terms of the subscriber count. In fact, Pewds knows that there’s no coming back for him, and he has acknowledged his defeat in by releasing a new music video called ‘Congratulations’.
But you know what? The music video is not just PewDiePie conceding his defeat to T-Series. It’s more about him taking a jab at the Bollywood music label and India, in general.
To begin with, PewDiePie made it a point to accuse T-Series’ executives by pulling out an old dirt on them. In the video, as you can see, he shows a Times Of India article from last year, which says that T-Series chairman Bhushan Kumar being investigated for tax evasion. He also noted how T-Series started its business by selling pirated songs.
Pewds also revealed that T-Series sent him a cease and desist letter following the release of his original diss track called ‘Bitch Lasagna’. He then used the video to pull out things which people usually regard as defamatory. He even took a racist-jab at Indians by saying, “Indians are poo-poo in their brains’. Felix then went on to talk about India’s caste system, crippling poverty, and more.
That being said, the video is not just about accusations, and poop slurs. Towards the end of the video, PewDiePie also took a moment to thank his fans for all the support. He said, “So this is it, thanks for sticking with my channel. Ever since I was a nobody, screaming at barrels. This is it, it’s been an adventure. It’s the end of the reign of Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg. Through all the change and controversy you’ve been by my side, there’s no army in the world I would rather give me watch time. It’s been a wild ride, so while I can still be heard, here’s one last bro fist, from the number one in the world.”
So unlike Bitch Lasagna, Congratulations is not essentially just a diss track for T-Series. It’s just Pewds’ way of showing his grievances with T-Series’ cease and desist letter, and thanking his fans at the same time for all the support. It’s a typical PewDiePie move. The music video has been watched over 10 million times in just 13 hours, and it’s currently trending on the platform.
