Digital newsrooms are high-pressure, stressful environments. Journalists are always working against tight deadlines which is overwhelming, to say the least. More so in the case of live broadcasts. Which is why gaffes are inevitable. Remember Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami misquoting Sunny Deol as Sunny Leone? Recently, another reporter from across the border faced a similar situation.
The ARY News presenter got confused with PM Modi’s use of the word ‘Abhinandan’ (meaning felicitations or congratulations) in his Parliament address and misquoted it as being a reference to Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman.
After the results of the 2019 Elections were out, Narendra Modi addressed the Central Hall and thanked his fellow party members for the win saying,
“Bharatiya Janata Party ke parivaar ka pratyek pratyek saathi koti koti abhinandan ka adhikarya hai.”
When translated, this would mean, “Each and every member of the BJP family deserves to be congratulated.”
The Pakistani reporter’s goof up was caught by Twitter users and shared online. The video soon turned into a facepalm moment for netizens.
Here are the funniest reactions to the slip-up on the internet.
Looks like IAF Wing Commander whose unit just introduced new ‘Amraam Dodgers’ and ‘Falcon Slayers’ patches with a pictorial representation of their MiG 21 Bison, is on everybody’s minds.
